At my company we have an open source first policy. Whenever can solve a problem in a way that can benefit the community we'll open source our solution in the form of a package.

At the moment of writing we have more then 100 public repo's on GitHub, the majority are Laravel packages. According to packagist our packages have recently crossed the magical one million downloads mark and they are currently downloaded 200 000 times a month.

In this talk I'll share the story behind our packages. How did we get started with open source? What are the benefits? How do we make time to work on them? How can you get started with giving back to the community that has given you so much. I'll also demo a few of our popular Laravel packages.
